FAQ
- How much will my sign cost?
- What is the difference in vector and raster artwork?
- What type of material can I use for my sign?
- What is your production turnaround time?
- How do I hang my banner?
- How do I store my banner?
A: This depends on a number of factors: the size of the banner, cut vinyl or printed, the number of colors, the quantity, whether they are single or double sided and if special hardware is required. Please speak with a representative for a quote or send email request to
quote@sign-technologies.com.
A: The type of artwork needed will depend on if the file is being cut in vinyl or digitally printed.

Raster Files:
- Raster files are made up of tiny squares, known as pixels, as
illustrated in the diagram to the right. The appropriate pixels
are filled in to represent a design's lines and arcs.
- The quality of a raster file is measured in DPI
(dots per inch). In order for us to use a raster file,
the file must be at least 150dpi. We cannot enlarge an
existing raster file without losing some of its graphical quality.
- Can be printed, but cannot be used for cut vinyl.

Vector Files:
- A vector file, on the other hand, is a file whereby lines and
arcs are stored as vector coordinates. This means that vector files
are made up of precisely defined entities, each with its own beginning
and end, rather than lumpy groups of pixels as found in raster files.
- Vector files can be enlarged and manipulated without loosing any graphical quality.
- Required for cut vinyl.

Vector EPS files are ideal for large format reproduction. These types of "vector-based" files can scale to larger sizes without any image distortion. All fonts should be converted to all outlines or the font files should accompany any job that will include fonts within the layout.
Photoshop files need to contain an appropriate amount of image data to ensure reproduction is not flawed by pixelization or aliasing. We recommend a minimum of 150 dpi for Photoshop files at the final output. If the file is created at half-size your dpi should be 300. When the file is enlarged to full-size the dpi drops in half. Very large output banners can be prepared at a lower resolution.
Please include a 1/4" bleed on all images.
Main applications: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, or Any Application that exports EPS or TIFF.
A: The type of material that can be used for your sign will depend on the application. Certain materials can only be used indoors and not placed outdoors. For example, Foamcore can only be used indoors and Acrylic can be used either indoors or outdoors. For a complete list of materials, please speak with a representative.
A: Usual turnaround time is 3 to 4 days, but large quantities, additional finishing, and custom orders could have a longer production time.
A: Our banners come with metal grommets in every corner and at intervals of 2-4 feet around the banner. You can use bungee cords, zip ties or ropes to hang your banner on buildings or between poles. It is extremely important that you use all grommets supplied on the banner for fastening. The banner material s very strong but only using a portion of the grommets may cause undue stress and cause the grommets to get torn out. If you need a customized way to hang your banner (such as pole pockets or ropes) please let us know and we can accommodate your need.
If you banner will be used for a Tradeshow or Display, ask a representative about banner stands.
A: Roll the banner with the PRINT IN. Don't store in extreme heat, like the trunk of your car. Never fold. With these precautions, your banner can last for years.
